English Learner Services
The English Learner Program strives to increase educational access and overcome language barriers. This is supported by increasing the English language proficiency of our English Learners (ELs) by providing effective language instruction educational programs. A variety of instructional activities and support system assist ELs to attain proficiency and to meet academic achievement and content standards. We provide additional instructional opportunities for immigrant children, as funding permits.
Long-Term English Learner After School Support Classes
English Learners who are not proficient after 7 years in California schools are considered Long-Term English Learners or LTELs. These students, as well as students at-risk of becoming LTEL are provided supplementary language and academic support through after school classes. School sites for these after school class offerings depend on the number of students in need and availability of teachers.
